MAINTENANCE GUIDE FOR YOUR FLYSURF
Our beginner surfboards are fast, light and strong. But it is important that you take into account some aspects for the maintenance of your Flysurf.
Congratulations on the purchase of your new Flysurf!
They are made for the roughest treatment, but still require some minimal care so they can last for many years. In this simple guide you will find basic instructions to start using your new board and also some very useful tips for its maintenance.
Maintenance Flysurf – Some instructions at the beginning.
1. When purchasing your new product Flysurf, you will receive with your board, a container with a set of fins inside. The 3 fins in the set are the same, so they can be installed interchangeably. The important thing is that the two shortest screws in the set are only installed on the rear fin. Installation is very easy, you just have to gently insert the two legs of the keel into the holes in the base of the table until it stops, and then insert and screw the included plastic screws on the upper surface. It is normal for the black plastic lip of the fin hole in the board to slide in when inserting the fin. The most important thing is that the screw is tight (but not too tight) and that there is no space between the bottom of the fin and the board.
2. On the front and back of the board, you will notice a shiny area over the logo of Flysurf, this is nothing more than a transparent paint that we use to protect the logos. Excesses will go away with water and use. They do not affect the functionality of your Flysurf.
3. Before using your new board, you should apply a liberal layer of wax to the top surface, starting at approximately 30cm. under the front logo to the tail. Preferably choose a soft wax, for cold or hot water depending on the beach where you learn, you must apply it in circular movements until covering the entire indicated surface.
Maintenance and repair of your Flysurf.
1. IMPORTANT: your new board Flysurf it is very resistant to UV rays and shocks inside and outside the water thanks to its semi-rigid plastic material that covers both surfaces. At the same time, this material is very sensitive to high temperatures, so YOU SHOULD NEVER:
- Expose it directly to high temperatures, for example: leave it inside a car in full sun.
- Cover it with towels or blankets.
- Store it in closed covers under the sun.
2. If any "wrinkle", "bubble" or "sag" of the surface of the board appears on your board, it is a clear sign that your board has been exposed to excessive heat sources. Do not try to repair it as you will only further damage the surface. Just continue to use it normally, since in general this type of damage does not affect the functionality of your Flysurf.
3. The "tail" of all surfboards is always a very delicate area, since it receives the stress and pressure of the water, of the leash rope and in general it is the part of the board that is most exposed to blows. In the model "The Traveller», its fish tail is also an area that you should take care of. Over time you will see wear on it, and in some cases the edge that makes contact with the leash rope of the board will lose adhesion to the body. This situation is normal, since it allows the stress to dissipate and the material does not suffer damage or breakage. You can easily repair it with products called "Sponge-rez" or Neopren Marino or simply black silicone, all of them are non-abrasive polymer sealants, which allow you to repair any damage that may occur to your Flysurf.
