Flysurf in the Design Market: Collaboration with MRDesigns
From Flysurf We do nothing but puzzle over how to continue improving and growing, always wanting to contribute new things that are in line with the values that we defend and transmit so much as a brand.
Two of the main reasons why we were born and that today we carry as our hallmarks, Are the support for local cultures and surfing in those places where we are present, and our weakness for good taste and design (something we always try to convey on our softboards). In this line, we have decided to participate in the Madrid Design Market, a space where artists and their projects can make themselves known. In addition, we do not plan to participate alone, but we do it through a collaboration with MRDesigns... Do you want to know more? Well keep reading.

Collaboration with MRDesigns? – We introduce you to its creator, Martina Rivera
Maps of your favorite places, watercolor canvases and custom orders made with great care…in short, an alternative to help you make your house your home, thanks to simple and personal details created with the same love and dedication as if you did it (but with more skill). This is MRDesigns, we believe that it is not necessary to explain why we have decided to venture into this collaboration: design, dedication and closeness, characteristics with which we feel very identified and with which we are always willing to work.
And behind all this is Martina Rivera, a family friend. Flysurf who makes this wonderful project compatible with her engineering work (for now). Here we leave you some information so that you know it a little better:
- How did this project come about?: “I have always liked to paint, decorate, personalize gifts… but it is true that I had not picked up a brush for years. It was the quarantine at my parents' house and an old paint case that I found in the storage room that pushed me to take it up again.”
- Who inspires you?: On instagram I follow many artists that I admire and who inspire me in my creations. I want to highlight Berta Llonch among them since it was her direct work and her butterfly farm that encouraged me with watercolors.
- Where do you see MRDesigns in 3 years from now?: “I don't know where we'll end up but I'd love to be close. May it be a project that will stay with me for a long time and continue to provide me with enthusiasm and opportunities to meet other artists and businesses through collaborations like the one we have done with Flysurf. "
- If you had to paint a single destination, what would it be?: “I love summer fruits, playing with watercolor to get the freshness that a good watermelon has in summer. And if you ask me where, in Cádiz!”
- How comfortable have you felt working with Flysurf and inspired by surfing for the designs?: “It is the first time that I do something similar but I was very excited and I was delighted with the result. I know your business philosophy, I've been following you since you started in Spain and I hope it's the first of many projects together!”
Well, now that you know a little more about MRDesigns and who is behind it, we present to you what we have been working on together.
What is the collaboration? Flysurf –MRDesigns?
When thinking about the collaboration, we wanted to do something that instantly felt like it had a bit of both, and we thought of asking Martina to make one of her designs inspired by one of our most popular surfboards: "The Traveller".

Also following our line of support the local product and little by little improve our ecological footprint, we both wanted to do something that was 100% designed and manufactured in Spain. So we decided to capture Martina's design on t-shirts made here and with 100% organic cotton. The result has been the following:

We hope you like them and that you feel all the love with which we have prepared them.
See you at the Design Market from June 25 to 27!
